The Void

The Void is an original black and white abstract painting using cracked clay and acrylic paints on a stretched cotton canvas.

The canvas measures 40cm x 30cm and is set inside a white painted tray frame measuring 44.5cm x 34.5cm. There is a gap between the canvas and frame to display the canvas’ painted edge.

The Void is a striking painting with beautiful texture and contrast. The black and white paints highlight the cracked texture beautifully and the white frame calms the chaotic surface.

Samuel chose to create a black and white piece after recently completing some colourful commissioned paintings. Samuel is drawn to and is comforted by dark colours, his dark painted studio is a testament to that. He has found that the absence of colour when using the clay medium amplifies it’s beauty, allowing the texture to speak for itself.
