Another Blue One
Another Blue One is part of the Supawan collection, a series of four paintings on exhibition at the Supawan restaurant in Kings Cross, London, between Summer 2019-2020.
The painting uses many colours, but primarily shades of blue, which led Samuel to this deadpan title. The combination of golds, purples, and blues works beautifully, and the addition of the eggshell white liquid paint creates a striking contrast that swims across the canvas in two sporadic channels. The patches of gold spray paint add a touch of elegance and a different dynamic texture to the composition.
The overall colour combination and pouring paint feature may resemble the water, an element that recurs in his work because of his love for nature. The title leaves this work ambiguous, allowing the viewer to interpret it.
Another Blue One measures 90cm x 90cm and fits within a white stained oak frame measuring 93.5cm x 93.5cm.
