You Won Jane, Enjoy The Money
“You won Jane, enjoy the money” is an abstract painting using purples and blues over Samuel’s signature textured surface.
To create this texture, Samuel has used cracking paste, plaster and pumice paste on canvas. He has then used metallic-effect spray paint alongside brushes and flicks of purple, blue, pink, and white acrylic paints to create this vivid composition. Samuel has finished the painting with a layer of Mod Podge to seal the plaster and add a slightly glossy finish.
Samuel’s titles are becoming more ambiguous, allowing the viewer to find their own meaning in the painting. He called this artwork “You won Jane, enjoy the money” after the popularly circulated rant from a contestant on the Channel 4 show Come Dine with Me. Purple shades are usually associated with wealth, power, and royalty, so it seemed fitting.
The overall dimensions of the painting’s black stained oak frame are 34cm x 44cm x 3.5cm. There is a gap between the canvas and the frame, revealing the artworks’ painted edges.
