Too Much Ash 2

Sale Price: £600.00 Original Price: £900.00

Too Much Ash 2 is the second painting in a powerful monochrome diptych created by Samuel for an exhibition at Harrods. Inspired by the fragile balance between destruction and renewal, the work captures the moment where darkness begins to dissolve into light, inviting the viewer to find hope within uncertainty.

Built over an intensely textured surface of plaster, sand paste and cracking paste, layers of black, white and grey acrylics are combined with spray paint using drips, sponges and energetic flicks of the brush. Every mark is intentionally left visible, allowing the raw surface to reveal its own history. The result is a painting that constantly changes with the light, rewarding closer inspection with rich texture and subtle tonal variation.

The gradual transition from deep charcoal to soft white creates a calm yet dramatic presence, making Too Much Ash 2 equally suited to contemporary interiors, minimalist spaces, and bold architectural settings. Its restrained palette allows the texture to become the focal point, bringing depth and atmosphere to a room without overwhelming it.

The painting measures 90 × 90 cm and is presented in a handcrafted black stained oak frame, bringing the finished dimensions to 93.5 × 93.5 × 3.5 cm. It is ready to hang.

As part of Samuel's commitment to the environment, each sale includes a donation to the WWF, supporting projects that help protect wildlife and combat climate change.

Too Much Ash 2 is currently exhibited in the Camerich showroom on Tottenham Court Road, London.
