Pride
Pride is a painting celebrating every member of the LGBT community for Pride month.
As a member of the LGBT community, Samuel wanted to create a piece of work to celebrate this month and will contribute to an LGBT with the purchase of the artwork.
Pride belongs in the abstract forms collection as the visual texture of the work comes from the layering of shapes alone.
Abandoning his clay medium for this piece, Samuel wanted to create a bold and chaotic composition that rely on the colours and forms alone.
Pride uses acrylic paints and spray paints on a stretched cotton canvas measuring 90cm x 60cm x 2cm. It is set inside a white painted tray frame measuring 93.5cm x 63.5cm x 3.5cm. There is a 1cm space between the canvas and frame to display the canvas’ painted edge.
The edges of the canvas are painted black to emphasize the colours on the face of the canvas. The black is finished with dotting from gold spray paint to add an extra element to the work.
